Here are some of the ways I’m cultivating my own lil antiracist garden, in no particular order. I’d love if you added to this list! These are all things that are helping me understand what’s going on and how other’s lives are both different and similar to mine. I’m keeping it short on purpose, so it doesn’t look overwhelming. But I’d love to have more stuff in comments (for me, too!).
What I’m Reading
Ibram Kendi’s How to Be an Antriracist
Michelle Alexander The New Jim Crow
Damon Young’s What Doesn’t Kill Me Makes Me Blacker
Sarah M. Broom The Yellow House
Robin DiAngelo White Fragility
What I’m Listening To (podcasts)
Larry Wilmore’s Black on the Air
Pod Save The People (Crooked Media)
What I’m Watching
HBO’s Insecure
PBS’s College Behind Bars
Netflix Gentefied
NB: These are kinda random and this list is not meant in any way to be exhaustive. Some are expressly political. Some are non-White centered media that I learn a lot from. Please share anything you’ve read/listened to/watched that you’ve found impactful!
As always, feel free to share!
